Quote #1: My mother stood rigid. I hid behind her legs. The man's gun was still held high, pointing upward. I decided to run if he lowered his gun. The horseman yelled in the direction he had come, pointing to me and my mother.

Response : I think that this quote related to number 4 (What challenges do the charcters face upon there new arrival.) I thought it related to that because in the beggining of the quote it says "I hid behind her legs", it made me seem like the narrator is not as brave. Or being little he was just very scared and that was one of the challenges.

Character Judgement: I think based on my quote he was not so sure of what was going on from when it continues in the book. He was not so sure of what was going on so he just hid behind his mothers legs. I think that this would be hard for me to be in an actual situation like this but he went through something difficult every once in a while.

Question: If you were in Daves position (from the quote) would you have ran or stayed their with your mother?

Quote #2: We met at Kakuma, in a home economics class. She was three years younger than me, and very smart, which is how she and I found ourselves placed together.

Response: I thought this quote sort of related to question number 3. The only reason I thought it did was because it describes how he met Tabitha I believe it is. I thought it was just that one sentance explained how he met her and ended up meeting her. How he described she was smart and yougner then him and how they ended up together in class. It was very simple but it explained how he met her

Character Judgement: From this quote it does not say a lot but I thought it was nice to just tell us how he met her. From reading it, it describes how he wants us to know basically every detail so we know everything about the person he is talkign about.

Question: Why do you think that in his old home (Kakuma) required each boy to be paired with a girl? (this is said after the quote)

Quote #1: i kind of agree with you but i kind of dont agree. I agree because not having bravery can hinder you in the future. but he already had bravery, but doing what he did is really just being smart. because if a man has a gun and he is trying to kill you, it helps if he doesnt know that you are there.

question 1#: i f i was in Daves position, I would have waited till he left then I would run. Because if he knows you are there and he is on a jorse, has a gun and a sword I think he will kill you.

Quote #2: I agree with you, it is a simple quote. but When you meet someone, that can determine your relationship with that person.

question #2: I think that is because they think the women will get raped or somthing so the men protect them. I also think they might have done that because they think it will better orginize them.
